Migration
Immigration (legal/illegal/refugees)
I am solidly not a fan of Open borders to say the very least
I support skilled immigration
We must defeat Neoliberalism to fix our broken migration system
I am ok with national unity. Migration is a good but is far from perfect (ymmv, but I don’t have a problem with it) .
Bicultruralist integration and or left wing assimilation is essential. People should be coherant to not allienate our country as to allow the government to keep the nation together. If we don’t do this it will divide the country , a nation divided against itself cannot stand (look at Canada for example).
I support gently encouraging as many illegal immigrants and migrants as possible to integrate like the Jews in France integrated according to The Jews of Modern France book by Paula Hyman if it could be done in an uplifting way
I support e-residency for non American citizens similar to e-residency that is done in Estonia but in a practical, common sense way as long as is seen as helping the migration/illegal immigration problem by both sides of the isle
I am against smugglers (like coyotes) smuggling in illegal immigrants into the US. I believe the US should extremely increase security to prevent those smugglers from that and to shut down their smuggling businesses
My issues with mass illegal immigration and endless legal migration is that we can barely afford to take care of our own people, at some point it becomes overwhelming to have to take care of a mass illegal immigrants and endless streams of legal migrants (and in rare times migrants in general). How can we take care of all these illegal immigrants (and in rare cases migrants in general) if our country is in the state that it is in now?
I really hope in the not so distant future that the Refugee Nation country will be created so all refugees around the world (who want to) can come and live there and have a place to call home and be accepted without having to worry about moving somewhere where they might not be a fit (rightly or wrongly) or who are too overwhelmed to properly care for them
The US must work in Central America to address the root causes of migration from Central America, to recognize that we don't need to sacrifice our humanity in the name of security. We also must work with Mexico to make sure that it takes its own border security seriously. Moreover, working with our neighbors to improve security across the region is an imporant component of any policy to promote prosperity and fairness in the hemisphere. A safe and secure region will lead to a safer, more secure United States.
Like other liberals, I also believe that the US also must engage with countries like Mexico and in Central America to address the causes that cause them to migrate to the US illegally
I am against closed borders as much as the next guy/girl but I have yet to hear a counter argument for the pro closed border argument of indirect international humanitarian cosmopolitanism from this article. That is why , deep down inside, I sympathize with Left Wing Europeans advocating for very strong borders and being anti migrant but I don’t really agree with them either since I am pro migrant.
We need to help address the concerns of those Left Wing anti migrant Europeans in a way that doesn't compromise our values (in sort of a compromising way that fuses together Democratic Centralist type compromise with the type of compromise that Hillary Clinton/Joe Biden and mainstream Democrats made or tried to make for Bernie Sanders and his supporters in 2016 with the 2016 DNC platform and during Joe Biden’s presidency)
I am against deporting illegal immigrants for virtually any reasons because I am not a fan of any Americans, legal or illegal emigrating from the US at all. Americans emigrating from the US to other countries saddens me because I miss Americans when they emigrate to another country like I miss my family and friends when they die
If more Americans stay in the US and don't move emigrate (i.e less Americans move to other countries), it can help increase the integration of migrants (legal and illegal) within the US, which can only be a positive for everybody
Churches shouldn't snitch on illegal immigrants
Crony Capitalism and Neoliberalism in general wrongly causes companies to exploit migrants, so if we overcome Crony Capitalism and Neoliberalism it will help migrants too.
Illegal immigrants and refugees don't commit more or less crime/violent crime than legal citizens.
I believe that migrants to the US should learn English
Immigrants can move to Japan but they can't become Japanese, immigrants can move to Turkey but they can't become Turkish but immigrants can move to America and be American. Any viewpoint to the right of the above viewpoint is unacceptable
I am against illegal immigrants getting free health care
A few of my other views on migration/illegal migration etc match a fusion of the Bush's Centers views on migration/illegal migration
I am ok with the Zapatistas
I am against NAFTA
I support the Jeremy Corbyn version of Brexit
I am a Euroskeptic
Mark Twain wrote “ Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime” Which means that travel allows people to stop being bigoted and xenophobic and instead focus their fears on things that are truly scary and a threat to us
